Remus Lupin/Sirius Black fanfiction

Remus sat beneath a larch beech tree and was emerged in “The Tales of Beedle the Bard.” The sound of whirring distracted him as he tried to read one of the stories (The Warlocks Hairy Heart.) Remus looked to the right and saw James watching the snitch he nicked just a few moments ago. “Prongs, are you sure you should have taken it?”
“Oh, c’mon Moony, it’s just a snitch!”

Remus returned to his book and tried to get back in to the story when he felt breathing on his neck. Remus turned his head slowly to the left and saw a long black haired boy reading the words from over his shoulder. “Padfoot, can I please read without you breathing on my neck?” Sirius smirked and moved to sit next to him. “Used to read those stories to Reg before he was expected by my mum to join Slytherin.”  Remus just nodded and carried on reading. He got to a really horrible part where the Warlock showed a lady a hairy heart in a casket that he cut out of his body a long time ago. “That’s just disgusting...” Remus mumbled. Sirius let out a bark of laughter and led down on the soft fresh grass. “Y’know, I liked the one about the three dudes who insulted death.”
“The Tale of the Three Brothers.” Remus informed.
“Yeah that one. Just imagine though, a wand more powerful than any in existence and a stone to bring back the dead! Of course, James already has the cloak don’t you!?” James grinned as he caught the snitch in his hand, “Yep, it’s been really useful for helping us steal food from the kitchens!”

They both laughed. Peter would have laughed as well but he was having remedial potions with Slughorn. Remus merely smiled, he didn’t really associate with rule breaking. He carried on reading ‘The Warlocks Hairy Heart’ until Sirius nudged him in the ribs. “What is it Sirius!?” he moaned irritably. “Want to go for a walk around the lake?” he asked. Remus sighed but nodded his head and stood up. Sirius stood up as well and turned to James, “Be back soon mate” he informed and Sirius and Remus left the shade of the beech tree.

When the two boys reached the edge of the lake they started to walk the perimeter. “Remus, do you believe in stone that could bring back the dead?” asked Sirius half-heartedly.
Remus thought for a second before answering, “Well the book says that it never brought them back properly, so I guess even if it was real I wouldn’t want it anyway.” They carried on strolling around the lake and they saw one of the Giant Squid’s tentacles emerge from the water and give them a wave. Sirius and Remus burst out laughing and waved back. “Well, what about a wand stronger than any in existence?” challenged Sirius.
Remus shrugged, “Well the First Brother got the wand stolen and he got killed because he bragged about having the wand. So I guess I’d have the wand but I wouldn’t boast about it and I wouldn’t use it for wrong-doing.”
Sirius smiled and said, “Of course you’d say something like that, you’re the smart one.” Remus focused on walking around the lake and he saw the edge of the Dark Forest loom closer.

He shuddered slightly as they walked near it. Sirius looked curiously at his friend but decided not to question it. “Do you think Evans meant it when she said she’d rather kiss the Giant Squid than James?” laughed Sirius.
Remus laughed as well, “Probably. You could see it in her eyes.”
“Do you think she was on her period when she said that?” Sirius whispered.
Remus gasped, “Make sure you don’t say that to Evans!”
“What do you think having a period is like?” questioned Sirius.
“Why are you asking me, I’m not a girl!?” laughed Remus.
“I don’t know why I’m asking you but I’m curious!”
They both fell about on the floor laughing. Sirius sat up straight again though, “I’m serious though!”
“I know you’re Sirius!” Remus giggled.
“You know what I mean!” moaned Sirius.
“Well, they get angry and they have period pains don’t they. So they spend a week every month clutching their stomach and moaning.”Remus informed.
“I don’t think I’ve seen Lily doing that, but she does seem to get angry a lot...”
“Are we seriously discussing whether or not Evans is on her period?”
“Yes, please try to keep up Remus.”

Remus smiled and propped himself up on his elbows. He looked in to Sirius’ grey eyes who stared right back in to his amber ones. Remus felt his cheeks flare up and he blamed it on the heat. Sirius smirked and shuffled closer until he was right at his friend’s side. The young werewolf started to feel uncomfortable so he averted his gaze to the lake. “Weren’t we going for a walk?” asked the smaller one. Sirius just smiled cheekily, “The walk can wait...”
“Padfoot what are you-“
Remus was cut off when he saw that Sirius was straddling him. “I really just want to carry on with the walk Pads.”
Sirius pouted, “Aw, Moony you’re no fun!”

Sirius got off his friend and started walking around the perimeter of the lake again. Remus; still dazed; got to his feet and stumbled to his pouting friends side, “Remus?” asked Sirius.
“Hm?”
“What do you think is in the lake?”
Remus stared out over the mass of water, “I read about Grindylows and Merpeople once.”
Sirius scowled, “Don’t like Merpeople, they make horrible high pitched noises that damage your ears.”
“That’s because they can’t speak above the ground, they’re songs are quite nice underwater.”
“How d’you know that?”
“Read it in a book.”
Sirius smiled and led Remus closer to the Forbidden Forest. Remus pulled back whilst Sirius lent against a tree. “W-we’re not supposed to go in there” Remus stuttered. The rebellious teen raised his eyebrows, “C’mon Remus, we won’t go too far in!” Remus hesitated and followed Sirius in to the forest.

A heavy mist hung around the trees and the two boys were lost. “I knew we shouldn’t have come in here!” moaned Remus. Sirius however tried to remain cool; he couldn’t lose his mind in here, he felt that he was responsible for Remus’ safety. He placed an arm around Remus’ shoulders and pulled him close. The blonde teen shivered from the other boy’s cold touch.

Cantering hooves were heard in the distance. Remus whimpered and clung on to his friend. “Shh, Remus. It-it’s nothing” Sirius reassured; his wand held in front of them.
“L-let’s just keep looking for a w-way out shall we?” Remus stammered. Sirius staggered to a thick tree; dragging Remus aside him. An idea struck in to Sirius’ mind, “We’ll climb up!” However, Remus didn’t like this idea at all but he just nodded as it was the only plan they had. Sirius grabbed on to a branch and hauled himself up with Remus close behind.

They had climbed at least five branches and were sitting in the fifth one watching their surroundings. Sirius looked at Remus out of the corner of his eye to see him leaning against the tree trunk and curled up in to a ball looking almost scared the death, “Remus?” All Remus did was sniffle and look up, “Don’t like h-heights...” Sirius crawled across the branch so he was directly in front of his friend and placed a hand on Remus’ knee. “Remus, right now I want you to pluck up your entire Gryffindor courage ok?” Remus looked up to see Sirius’ face right in front of his, “Ok then.”

They sat in the tree for about twenty minutes when they saw a light not far off. Remus; who had been napping in the tree; was being shook awake by Sirius. The light got closer and a giant man walked in to the clearing by the tree that the two boys were sat in. The light illuminated the man’s features and both boys were happy to see the familiar black beetle eyes and the bushy brown beard. “Hagrid!” called Sirius waving from the tree. The giant looked up alarmed at the two boys sitting in the tree, “what the ruddy hell do you two think you’re doin’ in ‘ere!”

Sirius and Remus jumped out of the tree; Remus looking deeply ashamed. “Answer my question will ya!” he boomed. Remus sniffled and burst in to tears. “It’s my fault Hagrid, I told Remus to come in with me” mumbled Sirius. “The fault is mine, I agreed to come in with him!” objected Remus. Sirius was taken aback by Remus’ objection; surely he would be expelled if he took the blame! “Right, come with me you two!” grunted Hagrid. The two boys trailed behind Hagrid and were pleased to see late daylight. “You two ‘ave got four minutes ‘till you need to be in bed!”
Remus gasped, grabbed Sirius’ hand and ran up the hill. “Thanks Hagrid!” they called.

As they ran silently down dark corridors Sirius pulled out The Marauder’s Map. “Filch is on the 5th floor” Sirius informed, “We should be all right if we took the shortcut through the tapestry on the next left...” Remus and Sirius ran to the tapestry on the next left and shot through it. “If only we had the invisibility cloak!” Sirius complained. Remus just walked ahead; still slightly snivelling until Sirius could stand it no longer, “Moony, why the hell are you still sobbing!?” Remus’ face contorted with rage, anger and fear. “Don’t you get it Sirius!” moaned Remus; tears streaking his face, “We could have died, we could have been expelled if it weren’t for Hagrid!” And with that he broke down on the floor. Sirius walked cautiously to his friend’s aid, knelt down and lifted Remus’ chin with two fingers.

Remus’ amber eyes stared innocently in to Sirius’ grey ones. The crying seized and Remus’ breathing stopped for a second, “Sirius-“
Remus was interrupted when Sirius brought his face closer; their lips centimetres apart. Remus could sense what was going to happen next but Sirius was dragging it on. “Stupid tease” thought Remus. Sirius was so close that Remus felt warm breath on his face. Remus froze up as he felt soft lips on his own.

Remus pulled away frowning. “What is it Remus?” asked Sirius.
He hesitated, “Are you kissing me because I’m upset or are you kissing me because you want to?”
Sirius grinned, “Both.” Remus smiled shyly and Sirius began kissing him again. Remus tangled his hand in Sirius’ hair. Sirius put his hand on Remus’ neck and pulled him closer. Remus pulled away again, “We need to get back to the common room” he said shortly. Sirius pouted as they both got up. He walked behind Remus and an idea crossed his sneaky little mind. He ran up to Remus and pinned him against the stone wall. Remus struggled in Sirius’ strong grip. “Just one more little kiss Moony?” said Sirius. Remus managed to free his hands and he shoved his friend away from him, “No Sirius!”
Sirius thought that this would work on his friend but he was obviously wrong. He felt redness creeping in to his cheeks. Remus stalked off back through the secret passage way with Sirius a safe distance behind him.

When they reached the common room Remus and Sirius was confronted immediately by James. “Where the bloody hell have you been!” he shouted. Remus looked at the floor and shuffled his feet uncomfortably. Sirius however played it cool with his hands deep in his pockets. “Forbidden Forest” Sirius said easily. James raised his eyebrows and looked at Remus, “Really!?” Remus gave a small nod and walked to up the stairs to their dormitory. “Pads, what’s up with him?” asked James frowning.
Sirius hesitated, “He didn’t like the forest much and I talked him in to going in.”
James frowned, “Sirius you’re an absolute idiot, you shouldn’t have made him go in! Go apologize now!” Sirius nodded and walked to the dorm, James sighed and put on the invisibility cloak to sneak to the kitchens.

Remus was in bed trying to finish reading ‘The Warlocks Hairy Heart’ when Sirius walked in. Remus looked up, only to look back at his book scowling. “Remus...” said a faint whisper; Remus wasn’t even sure he heard it. “Remus!” said the voice more desperately.
“What do you want Black!?” snarled Remus. He felt a dip in the end of his bed but he didn’t look up from his book. “I’m sorry” muttered Sirius. Remus still didn’t pay any attention to him. “Remus, at least look at me!” Sirius shouted. Peter stirred from the bed next to him. “Good thing he’s a heavy sleeper” said Remus; though he still didn’t look up. He felt the book being yanked out of his grasp. Sirius had took it and chucked it on the floor out of reach. Remus’ scowl became worse as he stared at his sorrowful friend, “What is it Black!?”
“Sorry!” wailed Sirius. Remus was quite taken aback by this but he thought nothing of it.
“You don’t understand! I could have been expelled and so would you!”
Sirius’ eyes welled up with tears, “Forgive me Remus, I beg you!”
Remus heaved a great sigh, “Fine, whatever...”
“I mean it Moony!”
“How can I forgive you Black? We could have died in that forest!”

Sirius stared at his hands; lost for words. Remus couldn’t bare it, “Sirius-“But that was all that he could manage before he was engulfed in to a bone breaking hug. Sirius began crying on Remus’ shoulder but Remus made no sign of resistance. “Please forgive me Remus, please!”
“Ok Sirius, ok, I forgive you!”
Sirius pulled away and smiled shakily whilst Remus extended a hand and wiped away his tears. “Stop crying Sirius, it’s not very attractive.” They both laughed and silence fell between the two.

“Sirius, I need to talk to you about something.” Remus whispered.
“What is it?”
“It’s about the forest.”
“Yeah I was going to ask you about that, why were you so scared? I mean I know it’s scary but you seemed like you were going to have a heart attack or something.”
“Well I was close to it...”
“But why!?”
“You know Fenrir Greyback?”
“Yeah, he’s the one who made you a” Sirius lowered his voice even quieter, “Werewolf.”
“Well, he bit me in a forest. And well, forests kind of get to me now...”
“Why would Fenrir Greyback be at Hogwarts though?”
“Don’t ask me! I wasn’t just scared for you, you know...I was scared he might run through the trees and get you!”
“So you think there are werewolves in the forest who would come after you even though you’re a werewolf?”
“Not me, you! I don’t want you to get hurt!”
“Well there were no werewolves after us and we’re still fine.”
Remus nodded and just stayed quiet. He curled up in the duvet and blanket and was falling asleep slowly.

Sirius watched him falling asleep with adoration until he got in to his own bed thinking one thing.

He doesn’t want me harmed.
